What does a Chartered Physiotherapist mean?
I have graduated from University with a Physiotherapy BSc(Hons) degree and I am member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). As a member I am expected to meet high standards of care and use evidence based practise. This means you receive the best, safest and most effective treatment, optimising your recovery.
Do I need a doctor's referral to come for physiotherapy?
No, unless you are going through your private medical insurance.
If you have private medical insurance, what details do you need to bring?
You will need to notify your insurer prior to attending treatment in order for them to authorise your claim. They will provide you with an authorisation number and you will need to bring this together with your policy number to you first appointment. Dependent upon the insurance company and your individual policy, you may be liable to pay an excess or a proportion of the treatment fee. We will send the bill to your insurance company directly.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
A list of medication you are on, either for your current problem or those used to treat other underlying medical issues.
Any referral letters, investigation results of scans, x-rays and tests which will gives up a deeper understanding of your symptoms.
Loose clothes, suitable underwear and footwear/trainers if we need to look at the way you walk or run.
If you are under the age of 16 you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
How long are the follow up sessions?
A follow up lasts 45 mins but may last up to an hour depending on complexity of the treatment plan.
How may sessions will I need?
We re-assess your condition during each session and we will decide together whether you need a follow up appointment. Most people find they need 5-6 sessions. Some conditions require less. We will discharge you when you feel confident that you have recovered from your injury and you have the knowledge to help prevent another episode in the future.
If you need to cancel an appointment?
You must give a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment or you will be charged the full amount of the missed appointment.
If you need to reschedule an appointment?
As long as you have given a minimum of 24 hours notice period you can text, email or call me to reschedule.
In the unlikely event, how do I make a complaint?
I value your custom, loyalty and feedback. If you leave your treatment feeling dissatisfied or have an issue with the service you have received. I would like to find out what it is, sort the issue out and stop it from happening again. You can complain to me by sending an email to: sophie.pinhoephysio@gmail.com
